Celebrate Sugar Land’s 50th Anniversary with “The Golden Concerts in the Park” Series

By Staff • on February 18, 2009

SUGAR LAND, Texas - Pack a picnic and bring the family to Oyster Creek Park for an evening of music and fun. Beginning April 19 and running through May 24, Sugar Land’s annual “Concert in the Park” series will be held every Sunday starting at 5 p.m.

To celebrate the City’s Golden Anniversary, popular bands will play music from each of the last five decades.

Launching the concert series, The B-Sides Band will offer the traditional sounds of Du Wop with just the right mix of 50’s Country and Rock N’ Roll. Other bands in the following weeks include El-Vibes, SoundProof, The Chromatics, Top Choice and BackBeat.

Be sure to mark calendars so as not to miss the weekly Sunday evening of free, live entertainment.

As an added bonus this year, each Sunday will also have a fun-filled intermission geared especially for the enjoyment of children. Surprise performances by local groups, a magician or balloon artist, face painting and moonwalks will be available every Sunday. For those who forget to pack a snack, the First Colony Lion’s Club will sell refreshments throughout each concert.

The Concert Lineup (subject to change) includes:

  • April 19: B-Sides (50’s Music)
  • April 26: El-Vibes (60’s Music)
  • May 3: SoundProof (70’s Music)
  • May 10: The Chromatics (80’s Music)
  • May 17: Top Choice (90’s Music)
